How to Create Desktop Shortcut of Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Any Websites

While this may sound very basic to a few users, others may find it
helpful. So in this article, we will see how to create a desktop shortcut in
Windows 10, for your favorite application, program, website, etc, & place it
on your Desktop or any other folder, for easy access.

Create a desktop shortcut in Windows 10

01. The easy way to create a desktop shortcut for your favorite application is
to right-click on its .exe file.

02. Select Send To – Desktop (Create shortcut). On your Windows desktop,
you’ll notice that a shortcut to it has been created.

If you choose to Create a shortcut instead, the shortcut will be generated in
the same directory as the original file. You can then drag & drop it into
your desired folder location.

03. Another option is to right-click on your desktop and pick New – Shortcut
from the menu.

04. You must specify the path of the application executable file for which the
shortcut is to be created.

05. If you know the path type it, else click on the Browse button & browse
to the .exe file & Choose it.

For example, I’ve downloaded FixWin, a free utility that allows you to fix
Windows problems with a single click.

06. Now click on Next to open the following window. You have the option of
keeping the same name or changing it.

07. Clicking on Finish will create a desktop shortcut. You’ll notice, though,
that it uses the default icon.

08. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties to give it a proper
icon.

09. Click the Change icon button when the Properties box appears.

The following box will open. You may select one of the system icons or you may
click on the Browse button and browse to the folder where you may have your
personal stock of .ico files.

Select the icon you want & click on Apply. The icon you requested will be
added to your shortcut.
