How to Enable Notifications on YouTube



Manage YouTube notifications: Notifications from YouTube
let you know when new videos and updates from your favorite
channels and other content are available. They will send you
notifications for channels you are subscribed to & may also
send notifications based on your interests. You can use the
commands below to adjust your notifications or turn them off
totally.



Get updates from specific channels





When you subscribe to a channel, you’ll automatically get
notifications with highlights of its activity and see all new
videos in your Subscription feed. You can change your notification
settings to receive notifications whenever a channel publishes new
content, or you can turn them off totally. 



When you subscribe to a channel, you’ll receive updates:

Browse to the channel or watch page. If you’re not subscribed, click Subscribe. When you subscribe to
a channel, you will automatically get occasional
notifications.



Press the bell icon to switch between receiving “All
notifications” & “Occasional notifications.”



All notifications – You will receive notifications for all
uploads & live streams.



Occasional notifications – You will receive notifications for
some uploads & live streams. The user’s definition of
‘occasional’ differs. YouTube uses signals such as your watch
history, how often do you watch the channel’s videos, how popular
certain videos are, and how often you open notifications to decide
when to send you a notification.



If you unsubscribe & then re-subscribe to a channel, The
settings for your notifications will be reset. If you had like to
receive a notification for every upload, make sure to turn on all
notifications.



On your desktop, you can now check and receive
notifications.



01. Open YouTube on any browser. 


02. At the top of the page, click the bell icon to check
notifications.



03. Select the notification you’re interested in to view the
video or comment. 



04. You can also manage your notifications from your desktop
inbox.



05. Next, to the notification, click Menu.


06. Select Hide this notification, Mute {channel name}, or Turn
off (type of notification) updates.



Choose which types of notifications you had like to
receive.



You have complete control over the types of notifications you
receive from YouTube, as well as how you receive them.

03. Under different sections on the page, select the
notifications you would like to receive:

Email updates: Check or uncheck the boxes to receive or not
receive updates with tips and trending videos. 

Channel subscriptions: Check or uncheck the box to receive or not
receive updates from channels you subscribe to or channels you
might be interested in.



04. Notify me via using the drop-down menu to choose how you want
to receive subscription notifications (mobile or email).



05.At the bottom of the Notifications page, you can also change
your email preferences for responses.



Manage Google Chrome notifications.

When using the Google Chrome browser, you can choose to receive
YouTube notifications. When you turn them on, you will get pop-up
notifications in your browser with updates from channels you
subscribe to.



01. Sign in to YouTube.


02. Go to your notifications settings.


03. Under “Desktop notifications,” Toggle notifications on or off
by clicking the button next to Chrome.



04. If you do not see the “Desktop notifications” option,
Notifications in your Chrome browser may be disabled. Unblock
notifications with the instructions below.



05. Click the padlock icon in the search bar of Chrome.


06. Go to “Notifications” under the “Permissions” section.


07. Click the drop-down menu, and select Always allow on this
site.



Difference between Notifications and Subscriptions Feed


Subscriptions feed, available on both mobile & desktop, is
where you can find all of your subscriptions’ recently uploaded
videos.



Notifications let you know when there are new videos &
updates from your subscriptions via email or push notifications on
mobile. When you subscribe to a channel, you will automatically
get occasional notifications with highlights of activity.



To receive all notifications from a channel that you’ve
subscribed to, tap the bell icon. Your icon will change to a
ringing bell icon to indicate that you have choose all
notifications.
